Well it's all come to a head. Got carted to the hospital in the foetal position on Saturday night and put straight onto the happy juice.
Sunday was a transfer from Warragul Hospital to Monash hospital in Moorabin.
Monday through to today were spent on a waiting list and fasting in case they could run me into theater for an Endoscopic removal.
    Two words there, FASTING SUCKS!!!!
They wanted me to stay in 'till Friday, but as that's my birthday and not wanting to possibly die on my birthday, I opted to come home with a swag of analgesics and an operation early next week, which I'm NOT looking forward to.

The first time I had a kidney stone I was in the Charlie Gardiner hospital in Subiaco. They put me straight on a diet of beer. They reckoned there was nothing like beer to flush the system thru. So the doc actually prescribed me beer. I HAD TO drink at least two bottles a day - not stubbies, 750 ml bottles. More if I wanted to. but I struggled to get thru the two a day.

The guy in the bed next to had come in from a small place on the trans Australia railway line, and had had his bottle of Johnnie Walker confiscated. He was not impressed! Reckoned it was favouritism.

BTW - it worked. The stone did come out after a day or two. But there were more waiting ... as I found out a few years later.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, extreme pain, could hardly walk to the car, 5 mins after railway line and I was walking into the hospital cool as a cucumber. Evidence of passing a stone but no actual stone.

I don't think mine was a real bad one but I get gout and it is much worse than my kidney stone.

Funny - last weekend, I had a pancreatic attack at 4:00am. Woke up in huge amount of pain, wife called doctor, then an ambulance.

First question they all ask is "on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is the pain".

Easy one that - it's worse than passing a kidney stone. Been there, done that. Didnt think anything could be worse, but I was wrong.

So, a mixture of morphine & valium, no eating or drinking anything for 4 days, massive amounts of IV fluid, and things are looking better.

Now just have to wait until next week to see what the surgeon has to say...

That's not bad, 2 weeks to see a surgeon.
I'm still waiting for my "Urgent" Urologists appointment from the original episode on April 26th!
It's only been 3 weeks since I was admitted to hospital in Warragul, transferred to Monash for surgery and 5 days in there getting bumped off the surgery list before being sent home on a course of Endone and Indicid.
Mmmmmm Endone, no wonder people get hooked on the stuff.

Glad I have never had kidney stones. MY bulding disk is enough right now. Quite embarrasing when your legs just fold under you with no warning. Getting x rays on monday to see how bad things realy are.
