ENGINE STAND - eBay Lifts, Hoists, Jacks, Tools, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 19-May-09 18:16:51 AEST)
I bought one of these the other day when I picked up my engine crane. I have assembled it, but I can't think how the engine bolts to the stand!
I am assuming that I need to remove the flywheel, and that there will be some conveniently placed bolts of suitable strength from which to hang the engine?
Any ideas?
PS - the engine is a 2.25 Petrol.
PPS: the banana was preemptive.![]()

and make sure you center the block as good as you can, this will make it easier to rotate under controll.
cheers phil
You sure?
The studs that are currently exposed are the ones that join the flywheel cover to the bellhousing, and they are pretty small!
Even if they can hold the weight, they are too short to fit throught the arms!
Should I get some new bolts and run them through the arms and into the stud threads instead?

Yes.
I have a fully dressed 3.5 on my engine stand at the moment. I bought 4 high tensile bolts of the correct length and thread to bolt it on.
Thanks muchly!
I will obtain some HT's and load her up.
Now for my next question in Shonky's "I knew that but wanted to quiz you" quiz:
- What thread and size are the female threads on the flywheel housing of a 2.25P?![]()

The same as the studs that came out of them
Just take those to your bolt shop and they should be able to measure and match for you.
I have a 3.9 on one of those in my garage and a 2 litre series 1 on another - the flywheel does have to come off. I just went to bunnings and bought four cheap gal bolts and nuts - no issues. Just a bit of playing around with the adjuster mounts to get everything lined up.

Well on mine - the flywheel was a bit thicker than the mounts on the engine stand - but may be different on different engines.
Oh - if all else fails with getting the engine onto the engine stand - read the instructions
