Oh ... forgot ... If you can't get Lino .... Then just use Moisture resistant ply and then give it a coat of varnish / both sides .... It will look great ... Trust me // I'm the building designer // my living

8 KG top loader can use up to 150 ltrs or more. The 8 kg front loader of our choice only uses a max of 55 ltrs. We are short on water here at times as is is. No one makes sud saver top loaders so have been forced into the front loader marketPersonally I hate the bloody things. Slower and to much electronic nonsense. Take near 1/2 an hour to set a programme to wash then if the power drops out its buggered

biggest issue i have with front loaders is that i've seen so many of them with terminal issues.... good quality, mechanically timed top loaders are virtually bulletproof and easy to fix when they do fail
Cheap
Better for your linen ... Less lint count loss = clothes not wearing out = looking like new
Easier to load & unload ... You have to put them on a 400 to 600mm high plinth
Space saver ... Place your front load dryer directly on top of the front load washer
At the price they are ... Don't repair ... buy another new one
Use any detergent .... doesn't have to be "Front Loader specific"
Use half of the detergent recommended when washing standard stuff ... IE not greasy
Top loaders with agitator are absolute antiques IMHO ... Don't believe me?? .. have a look at how much lint is caught up in the sink drain plug ... That lint is your hard earned Dollars that you spent on your clothes and bed sheets and towels .... F/P's are especially guilty of this ... I have the holes in the towels & sheets to prove it

Looks like our insurer may extend to this. I recon there will be over 10k in damages to fix it properly. An accessor is coming next week. So I can't touch it for now. Just drop a bit of ply over the hole.
I'm going to have to set up a temporary laundry some how as I can see this taking over a month
On the washing machines.... If a had plenty of water I would have got a Commercial Whirlpool Top loader. They look simple and robust. (Bit like my 120" Land Rover) You could near run a center pivot irrigator on the water it would use though
.
Thanks all for the input. Thanks NM for inspiring me to lodge a claim.

Major work has commenced on the old laundry today and as usual there is always something wrong or dodgy when you pull a floor upThis house was extended in the early 80s and was not tied in at all
We had bearers and joist but was secured only by the floor in one part
Also had a dry hold me up in a very bad place. When the ground swelled from the damp it pushed the bloody floor up and stuffed everything.
Always wondered why the kitchen (On the common wall) was having cabinet problems and the hall door would only swing in dry weather. That would be most of the time here
A few extras on top of the quote. I'm used to that here now. Make an estimate and double it usually come close
I'm still not real sure about the front loader washing machine yetSeems to take a long time to get the job done and shakes the whole house on spin cycle
Wish I got a top loader now as on hard water as well
This shows the extra timber bolted on that now ties the house together in some form. Also dug three barrow loads of builders waste out from this small areaNothing worse than crawling under a house and getting struck by a sharp edge.
Now is the time to put a power point in the kitchen cavity for the dish washerNot sure how it appeared there
New floor going in.
Walls now relined and set. Off to Gunnedah on Thursday to find some tiles.
my choice for washing machines are either commercial spec maytag or simpson top loaders.....
