I'd put the new machine back in and pretend I saw nothing.![]()
Should we have a poll on this
I've had so much go wrong here recently I just laughed when I discovered this one tonightNo wonder the house has been taken over by the mice
Our now not so faithful Simpson sud saver hasn't been saving all its suds it may appear.
The washing machine went up in sparks yesterday
Not sure what I'm going to do with this mess as tradies are impossible to get here and I don't have time to do a whole make over my by self. I'm thinking of cutting it out at around 600 off the wall and sticking a joist in and patching it up for now. Put some spare odd tiles on. Shouldn't look to bad as will be covered by the white goods.

Geez mate , that's not good , you can see the PVC pipe under the house![]()
is that caused by water leaking from the washing machine , looks like it's water damage.. I'm willing to come over and help with the make over![]()
Sure was leaking.I didn't know as the water ran back to the wall
Thanks for offer. I'll have to sort this quick for now so its going to be a VFBBE job.
A good make over will be some benzine and a large spark. Better move the beer fridge first.
I'm trying to renovate the homestead here so I don't want to waste my time and coin on this rabbit warren![]()
Don't rip up nothing !!! ... More grief than what its worth
Buy a sheet of 18mm Marine ply ... Or 18mm Moisture resistant ply ... or 18mm "Hardies compressed sheeting
Cut it 600mm wide for the entire length of that Laundry wall (under that fridge)
Silicon all edges back to those skirting wall tiles
Just Silicon stick it directly onto the floor ... Screw down with Galvanized Phillip head Tek screws ... Cover it with Lino (Use Lino white glue)
Re-Silicon all edges back to those skirting wall tiles
You will end up with a ledge ... But thats OK, cause it will be inline with the face edge of the "white goods"
Buy wife a new "front loader" washing machine / bunch of roses / box of Chocies
If you are feeling adventurous .... Handyman like ....
Build her a 600mm high boxed cupboard plinth, complete with a heavy Duty sliding Draw" and install the new "front loader" on it ... This gets the round door at working height // no back strain
You then should be rewarded with a hot meal ....

My job this week was to put a new laundry floor in and retile it, I'm grouting it tomorrow then fitters are putting in new cupboards etc next week.
Rangie Rover, I'd be cutting out the rotten bits and like you say, put in a couple of noggins to take a piece of new board etc. Don't forget to check for those wood eating termites toothey like damp wood
I was thinking along those lines at first. But now I like it.... That's VFBBE.
Got her a new 8kg front loader todayAnd a fancy metal cabinet to sit it on. Forgot the roses and chocies, if I got them she would think I've done something real bad
.
Worst part raising this floor a bit will be the tile splash back over the Tub.
They may pop off easily I hope. Other wise may be a trim with an angle grinder so tub slips back under.
Too true .... If you buy a tin of "Cresote" ... and paint all the exposed timbers ... This will stop any white ants & knock out any wood rot
.... Same products mentioned .... Spooky ...
... and the washing machine won't![]()
Just knock the tub tiles off ... & replace with 4mm white board // with that plastic hardiflex "end cap" white stripping to all exposed edges ... Use white water based mastic to finish off
Glue the whiteboard to the Gyprock wall lining
This should buy you a couple of years before you have to do the Laundry reno properly
