Between Balranald and Hay about 10 years hence, enroute Adelaide to Sydney overnight. We saw an amazingly brilliant light pass us quite high maybe 10-15 km to the south, at an incredible speed. It then, at a considerabley lower alltitude, hovered directly east of us for a short time, before performing some gyroscopic gymnastics that would be beyond the capabilities of even a PC 9. At all time it was displaying this bright light, presumabley it was spherical, as at no time did it dull despite change of direction. Actual distances were hard to estimate, and it seemed close due to the brightness, at no time did I feel threatened by it.
