I have this theory (yes, I know I have lots of theories).

i think that there is a tendency for people who have very responsible positions (like nurses) to feel the need for an outlet to avoid being overwhelmed by the pressures of their job.
At least that is the excuse we used to use when we were on archaeological trips from the UNE and we used to amuse ourselves at night by doing strange things like seeing how far we could get around the room without touching the floor of the shearers' quarters we were staying in.

The worry is I believe that is the excuse used by British Conservative politicians caught dressed in high heels and fishnet stockings and such things.
