Yep - a non negotiable limit, even if they add 10% But that depends on the jockey in the saddle at the time... Some don't give an inch....

The new Laser radars now have to be used with a Tripod.Hand movement was giving error speeds.
Local cops are on the Hwy in town every day with their bright yellow vests.50km limit but they scream thru.
They cant keep up writing tickets on long weekends.
The patrol car is far enough off the road not to be well seen but the vests are a giveaway if you are looking for them.
Good on them, they are not doing a popular job,if you arent speeding they wont stop you.

Generally, I think most HWP blokes who are on the road (not stopped with a hair dryer) are fair. On Saturday I rode past a HWP car going in the other direction between Lithgow and Bathurst. I looked at my speedo and saw it was showing 115km/h. "Phew!", thought I - just over. Then around the corner was a speed sign. I had been in a 100km/h zone at the time but the HWP car didn't worry about me. There was no other traffic about.

I haven't put the GPS on the bike to check the speedo. I know my Rangie is close enough to spot on at all speeds up to 110km/h. My wife's new Subaru indicates 118km/h at 110km/h (GPS) and 110km/h at 100km/h.

One HWP bloke told me he allows 10% + 3 km/h - but I think it does depend on the circumstances, too.

then you get the probationary ones out to make a name and reputation for themselves that book you for 114km/h in a 100 zone....

Wrong!!!! In SA they can be anywhere but must place a sign afterwards stating you just went through a speed camera...

They can park in lanes, on verges, behind bushes etc...

Often seen doing just that on many of SAs arterial roads and highways...

Sorry but I think your thinking is misaligned a little here...

114km/h in a 100 is obvious exceeding the limit...

    118km/h in a 110 I could understand, but your 14km over...

Even using 10% +3km/h that Ron mentioned your still outside the 'tolerance'

Nothing to do with making a name for themselves.... If I was a HWP you'd be gone too....

Try the autobahns in Germany....I was being overtaken, and overtaken very quickly, by all sorts of mercs, bmw's etc. I was doing 160kph

There will always be those who say the police (read HWP) are doing nothing but revenue raising for there respective employer. Some HWP officers apply zero tolerance to speed enforcement operations. Most don't and in allowing you an extra 10% speed over limit - I think that's not a bad deal in a 110kph zone. There are areas that are enforced that makes you question whether it is a black spot. Why is there no fixed speed camera on Heathcote Road, west of the river? Been plenty of fatals and persons injured prangs there.

But if anyone has ever been to a multiple fatality where high speed is the direct cause of the collision - seen the cars torn apart and totally unrecognisable - seen the bodies torn apart and try to match an arm with a torso, a head with a neck, and try to identify who is who with the relatives...you'd probably understand why speeding motorists can be an area of concern for some police.
