Not that I'm any chainsaw expert - although I have owned a Stihl Wood Boss for 2 months now, one good tip I got from the Stihl dealer was to just start the saw once a week and let it run for 3 or 4 minutes. The diaphram won't gunk up/ rot/dry out and yes, it's better to use the 2 stroke fuel than leave it sitting in the thing for too long.
It really helps reaffirm your masculinity to go down to the shed and have a whole pile of 2 stroke gardening items hopping all over the ground idling away.Of course, this is gold if you have annoying neighbours - hell, you can become the annoying neighbour! Give them all a bit of a rev up to clear the plugs and you're done - beer time.
