While I agree to an extent, what happened to personal responsibility?

Training or no training, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you load a soft material offset from its mounting it will bend!

My employer gives me a computer but hasn't trained me in it's use, but you don't see me trying to sharpen pencils in USB ports!

That said yes, the employer is ALSO an idiot. At very least they could have told him NOT to use the gear unless he was trained. He made a fool of himself, but he could have easily made a corpse of himself.

So what do you use the USB ports for ???

I know that they're not much use for the normal "round" pencils, but those flat builders' pencils are a good fit.
    Cheers .........

I think you blokes are being a bit harsh. The Ranger has had a go at giving someone in trouble a hand. Unfortunately he had no idea how to do the job. But his heart was in the right place, so he deserves a bit of slack. Speaking of slack; his employer has a responsibility to train him in the use of the gear he was given. This could have allowed him to effectively extract the vehicle without damaging his vehicle or the surrounds and do it in a safe manner. The Ranger has tried to do the right thing, his employer is the one who has stuffed up.

Perhaps a better policy, as shown, is leave it to the experts. Again a failure at the management level, not of the Ranger.
