i got minime's kite out because its plastic, my one got wet and is a bit heavy. Got it on my fishing rod so i have about 60 meters of line out.

Now question. I threaded a Leggy key on the line so how do I stop the leggy Key sliding against the rod with out actually tying it to the line?
tie a stopper knot in the line or use a peg

    Lightning Photo

Yep, lightning strikes about 5 seconds apart this afternoon as several storm cells came through. We had one where the flash and the bang were only just separated- really rattled the windows! Just like the storms you usually see in the tropics.
Got the attached photo by opening the shutter on my 35mm camera while it sat on top of my car and let the lightning provide the flash. It shows the area on the plains east of Truro (Truro Flats) covered in water from a thunderstorm deluge. It flooded Truro and also Nuriootpa on the other side of the ranges. It cut the Sturt Highway temporarily (for an hour or so) at the bottom of Accommodation Hill, and then flooded the road further along for several months until Highways built the road up another couple feet. All the trucks had to go via Swan Reach ferry. The water hung around for a year or more in big lagoons which provided a bonanza for local wildlife- had to be very careful of roos in abundance when driving through that area at night during that time. On the night I was lucky to get through- they had closed the road at Truro to trucks due to damage on the bridge, and then closed it to everyone shortly after I passed that point.

you can also use the alpine butterfly or the bowline on the bite to make a temporary loop that you can use to slip through around and over the key.

both only reduce line strength to about 80% and are easy to untie when the load comes off.

The tree that was hit was smoking/steaming and the top branch was lopped off. After the storm passed, I went to have a closer look at the tree. You could see a clear path down the trunk from the point of impact to the base of the tree where the lightining stripped the bark off. All around the tree, large boulders that were embedded in the ground had a layer of rock cracked off, like an onion.
Exactly what happened 10meters from where i was sitting doing my homework, one night about 40 yrs ago during a storm. It was at my parents place at Daisy Hill, for people that know the area.

The noise was unbelievable. It was a huge bang, and a big flash at the same time,i still remember jumping out of the chair i was in.

The wood splinters rained down around the tree & all over the roof of the houseIt was a massive tree,a gum around 600mm in diameter, the top 3/4 was missing,it had been blown into hundreds of small pieces of wood, similar to large splinters.

There were no boulders on the ground,it actually jumped from the tree onto the post for the extender line, burnt the paint off it.

    Anyway,back to funnies

The alpine butterfly would be the better option.
