That is a bit sad really, but I wonder what would happen if we did this to our gen Y. Some of the stuff we get them to do is funny. We had one wear bright orange paper overalls all day not that long ago, new safety measure apparently.

Our daughter is Gen Y and there is no way she'd be caught like this.

I grew up with one next door (North Rocks NSW) - except the unbuilt section faced the street. In that case the "formal" rooms, parlour and dining room, were apparently left to be built later, and this never happened. I would guess from my memory of the style that the house was built in the 1920s, and the Depression may have prevented any further work.
