Hi

We basically did the same trip but in reverse in april for 3 1/2 weeks (a bit rushed - but great) We went from Kulgera to Lamberts centre, finke, Mt Dare, dalhousie and was definately worth it. the road to Dalhousie from mt Dare was rough but two off road jaycos and a camper trailer travelling with us made it - one lost its spare tyre! Mereenie loop was open and in reasonable condition - a couple of washouts but travel at 80km/h was ok. McDonnel ranges were great and would have loved more time. Ayres rock & the Olgas were brilliant and I'd go back tomorrow. We missed palm valley but wish we had time for it. We spent 4 days at the rock and 3 at kings Canyon (Yes the defender failed to proceed otherwise 1 night would be plenty). We spent 4 nights in alice but could have spent less really - depends what you want - spend more in the ranges than alice. Go out to Lake Eyre from William creek. Oodnadata track had just been graded and was like a highway, some good campsites along there, we camped at algebuckina waterhole - great spot.

You will probably go through Peterborough in SA - we all liked the little caravan park there - good facilities. Wilmington SA has a toy museum, with big boys toys - around 40 Series one and two Landys out the back!

I could go on for ages, Let us know if you want more info...
