TD5 2001 Alternator
My alternator has gradually had a wirring noise that is getting louder and louder or a period of 6 months.
My Disco mechanic says that the alternator needs replacing.
$640 for new one.- thats not installed.
Anyone got any suggestions.
Can they be rebuilt?
How much for secondhand?
Sounds like a bearing issues to me.

I wouldn't bother having it rebuilt, as they normally cost a fortune and don't last the distance.
It's a wearing part... so if you are planning on keeping the car I would suggest you purchase new.
They are expensive because the td5 is vacuum pump/alternator assly
