Ill go the 130 myself... but depends on usage. Freelander and 130 are totally different beasts, one soft roader, the other serious 4wd, almost agricultural.

Yeah, my bro hit a roo in his '99 Disco 1 a few weeks ago. very little damage and Shannons called it a right-off. $4500 they reckoned it'l cost to repair. He bought it back at auction for 3Grand and I've seen the vehicle and there's so little damage, he estimates $800 and it'l be back on the road after reregistering. Parts on Ebay can be very cheap and there are a lot of discos sitting in back yards up here just ripe for salvage. I hope yours can be repaired.
Well it's definite, she's goneApparently it would be repairable except for the airbags.
We've come down to 3 real choices for a replacement:
1) 01-03 Freelander Td4
2) 01-05 Subaru Outback
3) 00-04 Subaru Forester
The reason we're thinking these options is they still have a bit of clearance for dirt tracks etc and have some offroad ability. I used to have a Liberty, so I know how good Subies are
A 130 Defender is really not an option, there's no point having 2 defenders when we need a round town type car to just do the shopping in etc. Plus it just flogs the Tdi's on cold winter nights when I have to get up at 4am etc for fire calls.
We've had a Hyundai Elantra hire car for the past week and are really enjoying having a 'normal' car for getting around in![]()
All I can say is bugger me and I am so glad you had a bull bar mate! The bull bar did its job and deflected the roo. AWESOME! Glad to hear that everyone is okay! I will never own a 4WD without a bull bar after seeing that. Seeing as how you were traveling at 90kph it would not take a big roo to do some major damage!
Hi,
as above, am glad you are ok.
That is a steel bull bar?
I have no experience with large macropod impacts, we have smaller wallabies down here.
cheers
Ahh there'll be plenty more
