I assunibg that he was talking about hunting and the 22 rim caliber only have a decent impact @ 50 mts, over that it loose force and also loose the flat trajectory there fore the chances of place the bullet in a critical area.
The SSAA agree with my comments and do not recommend to use this caliber for this size of animals.
The Magnun have a force and a resonable flat trajectory up to 90 mts.
Regarding cheap guns (and excellet) I cannot see how the Carl Gustav 6.5X55 it is not considered by you. when examples of them are for sale for $ 400

My rifle cost me $ 350.00 and was excellent on 200 mts and it will kill a ferral pig no problems,
