I could live with the new D4, especially now Cooper are producing an AT
tyre to fit the bigger wheel diamaters.

I must admit tho that it would be a base model with less electrical gadgets.
I am not completly sold on the shape of the D3-4 but I think this new one would be good vaue for money and they have also increased its off road capability.
TJM make a very nice bullbar for them also.

I agree with you,I like the D1 over all the others too but I also like the way LR have not copied the japanese in making all thier vehicles look the same with the rounded body work and stupid looking lights and oversize plastic bumpers. Pat

Yes but one small problem remains re 18" tyres. The spare wheel well will only take a 265 (255 being the standard tyre). If you want to go bigger, to say a 275 ATR, the spare either won't fit or has to be deflated first.

I also drive a house brick and love it!!!! The D4 just looks like a more fancy brick, but by golly i would love one.
Electronics or not, they are getting better and more reliable - and my view of D3's offroad has been amended (we have a few in our club and they go places!)
So ugly or not is irrelevant (for me) - different strokes etc etc...... I love them and would have one in a flash

Personally I love the look of the D3/4. One big plus is it doesn't look like anything else on the road.

My only complaint re the D4 is the colour-coded bumpers. I, like everyone else who's been off road in the D3, have scrapped the rear bumper while exiting washouts, creeks, etc. In the D3 they're mat black so the odd scrape makes little difference. Doing the same thing to a colour-coded bumper add a degree of stress (and $$) which I don't need.

I think the "sand start" mode and launch changes to the HDC will be very good.

you wish.......you haven't been that quiet stevo I have enjoyed reading your posts up until this one. Wow your a very sensitive guy stevo to think that when ever i reply to your post I have been sitting and waiting to do so......your not that important mate.

In fact you may notice that I often have a say when I feel anyone is having a go at someone on here when its not necessary

I replied as I feel you have been very harsh.....if you feel he needs to back up his statement couldn't you have just asked why he feels the way he does? rather than going off on one like that and try to make him look small in front of the whole forum.
Actually I have been quiet in regards to getting involved in any sort of discussion....got old getting flagged in the mods area. Sensitive.....highly unlikely....SWMBO would love it if I was more sensitive instead of being like a bull at a gate . As for harsh....I think putting down an LR on a LR forum is harsh.

You must have been a Chinese editor in a previous life, where only the positive spin may be published, true or not. You're in Australia now, where we have freedom of speach, thought and opinion. My free opinion still considers the D3 ugly! If you want one, good for you, I hope you get many years of happiness from it. If you do ever aquire possession of one, rest assured I will not be launching bombastic attacks upon you for your (right of) choice. As a democratic Australian, I will respect everyone's choice and right to hold a differing opinion.

I may not agree with your views, but will fight for your right to hold and express them.
Chinese?? I'm in Australia now?? Bombastic?? You and a few others seem to miss the point. I couldn't care less about your opinion....so you think its ugly......care factor 0. It was the point of making the comment in the first place.....why? What value did it hold? Someone puts up a positive report on the D4...so what...we malign it instead? Thats what we do?

I think the "opinion" component has been covered. What I want to know is if someone posts up a positive report on an LR...any LR....then that it is ok to knock it one form or another...opinion or not. When negative reports are posted....folks are up in arms...when someone on our own forum does it....must be ok. If the general consensus is that it is ok...guess I will happily stay in the minority.

As for respecting everyones choice and opinions...personally I do not. Think about some peoples opinions and choices...can one really respect them?? Oh and no not Chinese.........have been in Australia all my life....bombastic....will give that one to SWMBO..she's always looking for new things to call me....and yes have already owned a D3...thought the pics were a dead giveaway...best damn vehicle I have ever owned.

    Regards

    Stevo

Dropped into Austral LR on Sunday to test drive a D3 SE TDV6.

Apparently the prices for the D4 will be confirmed soon but... the V6 SE has been dropped and the SE will only be available in the 3.0 TDV6 at approx $91k

The 2.7TDV6 S will be around $70-80k mark.

That means the Discovery has gotten 10 - 15k more expensive.

what made you think you were getting flagged in the mods area?
only people that go out of there way to upset others or constantly don't abide by the rules get flagged in the mods area.
