Well done, I'm up to MC licence and I get more nervous each time I up grade. Getting the crash box puts you into an elite group these days. I haven't driven one for about ten years, but the skill is good to have when you loose the clutch.
Most truck (Volvo's ) I drive are now Autos and some of our newer drives can only drive semis with them.

Good on ya,its a great feeling when you get you photo taken and the D.O.T hands you your truck licence,i do it for a living its my own business and i find it a real challenge teaching people of all walks of life how to drive a truck correctly,i have a 1995 Mack CHR Select 427HP with a 18 speed roadranger that i train in and i wouldnt do anything else,a lot of new trucks are fitted with an auto shift, and all European trucks such as Volvos and scanias have a synchro box which lets face it anyone can drive, however i recommend to all my students to learn that crash box(roadranger) transmission as it gives them more opportunities in the trucking industry, there are a lot of transport companys out there that will not hire you if you have a Synchro restriction on your licence,i also teach my students how to drive without the clutch, use the clutch to lift off then shift all gears up and down without the clutch,it teaches you how to match engine revs with road speed and i believe from experiance that it makes you a better driver.....Wes.

I went straight from Car to HC in South Australia by doing a TILE course. From memory it was 18 hours of theory and 15 hours of log book driver training with two practical assesments.

Well done its not easy sitting a driving test again with the RTA, especially when you have been driving a car for a few years picking up bad habits.
The Syncro thing most trucks are Syncro now and more are going auto like at my work all new trucks coming off the line are now auto.
But when your starting out with no experience you will pick up a job faster with a roadranger box licence.

    Good Luck.

Is it only a 4 day course? What does it cost if you don't mind me asking. I have been thinking about getting mine soonish so I could get a second/holiday job driving the dump truck for the local landscaping supply business, could possibly be driving cattle trucks too.

    Cheers
