Now days you have to go to very remote areas to not find LPG,an empty lpg tank is not more a waste than an empty second diesel tank.If I lived in Perth where LPG is 50cpl I'd be buying gas but I don't live in Perth. Pat

If you lived in Sydney you can buy LPG for $0.50/L depending on the day and the service station. I find Wilberforce and Blackheath regularly have cheaper prices than the Eastern Suburbs but who wants to drive for 60 min each way just to fill up!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Main highway between Adelaide and Darwin will leave you stranded in more than one location.

And a second diesel tank doesn't usually sit in the cargo area, at least the ones I've seen.

Here are both options you pick , fly up n drive back to tassie!
Unreserved - Land Rover Discovery V8 Petrol & Turbo Diesel

On this sale, ( it differs with some) they dont include the gst and charge another 5%handling fee so add about 15% to the final bid if you want to buy 1 of them.

Most places outside the capitals or large provincials will leave you stuck.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Gas is for bar b q's!

V8's are cheaper to buy, cheaper to fix, have plenty of power and you just cant beat the sound of a rover V8 at full noise (with a decent exhaust system of course)

Diesel's are nice if you're touring or doing alot of towing but hey.....how often do you get away for a trip up the cape?

They both have their pro's and cons but for weekend trips away camping and commuting to and from work theres nothing wrong with a V8.

    You know you want one!
    Cheers

If that happens the price of Taxi fares will increase dramaticaly and if the government is serious about reducing photo-chemical smog in cities they will never increase the price of LPG so it is uneconomical for high-mileage commercial city users like taxis.

My guess is that they will re-think the tax, so it is a watch this space issue.

Re-diesel Vs LPG when the economy was good the price of Diesel was around 3 times more that the price of LPG. You would have to get triple the k/L to make diesel more economical than LPG. Even today the price of diesel is twice the price of LPG and you don't get double the distance out of diesel.

The other statements as well as the loss of load space are true, unless you add sill tanks to the disco for the petrol and replace the original disco tank with the LPG tanks. I bought a pair of 2nd hand sill tanks for my RRc at the Sydney Expo for $40.

For my own interest, what sort of litres to 100 klm are you guys getting out of your gas setups?

As I said earlier in this thread (I mainly resurected it to ask about the auto gearbox) , gas is really a bit too hard to find i a lot of parts of tasmania that I want to do 4wding in, so really diesel is the only choice for me
