Broke the bolt which attaches the front spline drive member to the wheel hub!!! Is it worth trying to use an easy out? Or just buy a new hub to get me on the road sooner? We were suppose to be leaving Sunday!
So who in Brisbane can fix it? MR are they open tomorrow(Sat)?
The local mechanics shop? Will they have big enough gear?
Anyone know what a new Hub would be worth?
I will drive the car to work tonight and see if the mechanics at work can fix it, they might be too busy though...
Cheers Barney!
Had this one myself, tried to tap it out but did not succeed. swapped the hub as I had a slavaged one as spare anyway. It all depends where the bolt broke off, if it broke deep down the thread it is waste of time to attempt easing it out IMHO, much better to replace the hub.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
I have in the past used a mig welder on bolts as small as 1/4" to build them up and then quench them and they will often then come out with your fingers or a set of vice grips. Couldnt do it now as the hands aint steady enough nor the eyes good enough.
cheers

Where abouts in Brisbane are you?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
If you don't get it fixed before the shops close, send a PM, as I have a MA Disco hub you can borrow (and an axle seal). Just a hint - the sqaure shaped ezy outs ( And yes, you can borrow them too if you are desperate) are more likely to work than the reverse twist ones.
