had a final look on friday... its a DOG

i noticed expansion cap lid was off... dipped my fingers in and out they came covered in thick black oily sludge.. so im guessing its about 2k's off a new engine or serious work... i aint gonna pay 20k for it especially as the sales guy was sitting there telling me its had a full workshop inspection and been checked over by a local landrover repair facility

this wouldn't be a certain car yard in wangarra that is near a roundabout on a hill. (trying to remain vague)

I went and had a look at a D1 with a mate and was told the same thing "its had a full workshop inspection and been checked over by a local landrover repair facility"

Long story short, we took it to jrt an it was a dud. Many faults that would make the car unroadworthy so we walked away when the salesmen wasn't interested. My mate then bought another dud, a jackeroo!

never mind i found it on drive, and its a different yard. looks sweet but 20k? not if the engines screwed

yeah its a nice motor, done some touring but generally very clean.. i'd jump at it at the right price.. but i'd want to budget for putting a full engine in plus harness (as thats got oil in it too, i know its flushable btu may as well put a new one in!) i may give him a call and just say if he wants to 'dispose' of it then i'll talk prices with him.

anyway just wanted to highlight about the vehicle.. its worth some money, but it isnt as advertised yet. As soon as i dipped my fingers in the expansion tank he walked away.. they obviously know as they already had prices for new head being done once i mentioned the current head had been welded at some point in the very recent past. Was a bit of an accurate guess too.

Is it in a yard on Gnangarra Rd????
If so its been there for a while,I almost called in for a look first week in July but it started pouring down.Looked the goods,White with all the gear not an Extreme.

It may be on that road yes , but i dont think its the one you are thinking of (defender that is!), that was a white 300tdi for about the same money, i may be wrong? We did look at it tho.. i think this one is a very new sale for them, and a bad one at that. Unfortunatley i know far more about it than they do!

Just wish Rach would decide between a D3 or a deefer

Was a TD5.
Did the one you look at have a dent in one of the rear 1/4 panels??? RHS from memory.
