Thanks for that. I looked through all my old mags & could'nt find the original a few weeks back, only muddies.
I bet the pirellies added a bit on the price tag since this was released...
Someone in Markets posted a link to this article:
Australian 4WD Monthly dedicated to 4WD, 4x4, SUV, Truck, 4 wheel drive and off road community, loaded with tips, tests, reviews, travel, gallery and forum
which I hadn;t seen before, so thought I'd re-post in the general section.
Good review of All Terrain tyres from Pirelli, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Mickey Thompson, Simex, Brigestone, and about 5 or 6 others.
I thought the BFGs were bound to be up there, but the only thing they appeared to do really well was in clay.
Pirelli and the Michelin seemed to come out on top.
Cheers

I believe certain tyres suit some vehicles better than others. The two at type tyres I have used recently rated poorly in that test however on a Range Rover they perform extremely well and I would and have recommended them to many people who also are impressed.

Aaaaargh a picture of them using an impact wrench on wheel nuts!
As for the tyre review I notice they don't review the General Grabbers and from what I've seen of these on my Puma after 38,000km they are a really good long lasting and hard wearing tyre. The Puma came with the T/R's but I'd really like to know if a more aggressive pattern is as robust.

Thanks Guy's, another tyre test to confuse me even more..When I replaced my cooper s/t I went to 3 seperate tyre shop in Darwin, they all told me how **** the coopers were, which needed replacing after 44000 I tended to agree. I told them my driving intensions and asked what tyre I would need for my Disco.2 recd Goodyear Wrangler 1 said dueller D694.
With my Canning trip coming next year I read this comparo and the Wranglers came out bottom of the tree.
Oh well more to think about, and it is only money after all.
Thanks and Cheers Ean
The Wrangler Silent Armour is what i have been using for 18 months and I have been more than happy with then. No punctures, no cuts, wearing well and despite the what the test says definately no 4 wheel slides even in pouring rain. They work well at 18 psi on sand and in mud.

Mine have done 12000 and a fair bit of that was on gravel in the Kimberley's, and I guess if I drove at 80 or more then the car may hae slid around, but if you drive to the conditions then I dont see them being a problem..It was there poor rating on sand theat worried me..So far I am very happy with them, wont be hard to beat the coopers..3 out of 5 failed in 44000ks..Warranty...Yeah right!!!!
Well, a couple of weeks ago I recently swapped my BFG A/T's for some Maxxis Buck Shots...
The BFG's were brilliant on sand, got me around a few state forests, wet and dry etc...and were fine on the black top. I put the muddies on for a more aggressive tread, and they really shone today in the wet around Newnes.
I was going to sell the BFG's but will hang onto them now for around town...either way, you have to consider your vehicle type, the way you drive, cost, usage etc.
I have a mate that swears by Coopers, but everyone says they are carp.
I tend to look at those comparos with one eye toward who puts in the biggest advertising dollar.
