Why won't they let an R35 GTR in Bathurst, even a Evo Lancer?

Probably cause they'd have to fill in an extra hour of TV waiting for the Taxi's to finish

The production class is a lot better IMHO

I don't see any Holden's racing, I see a foreign designed and shaped car running a Chevrolet engine block with Ford design heads, a Hollinger gearbox and a Ford diff.
Ford at least have an Australian designed and shaped (available nowhere else in the world) body, a Ford engine and Ford diff, so much for Holden being the Australian car, never has been and never will be.
Only reason Holden has won more races than Ford is because when Holden was getting it's arse whipped in the early 70's good old Australian GM bought in from Pommy land a 4 cylinder small car, the Vauxhall (Torana) and stuffed in a hot six cylinder, then when that worked they brought in the German GM Opel (Commodore) and shoehorned a V8 into it.
Whatever happened to Australia's GM full size car the HQ, never did you see one of these racing against full size Fords at Bathurst, no confidence in the local made product.
Then along came the Nissan and Ford Sierra's, BANNED because we couldn't have FOREIGN cars beating GM's Vauxhalls and Opels, I nearly forgot that these 2 cars were so much better than anything GM had anywhere in the world.
I won't be watching the Bathurst race as it ****es me orf watching Multinational companies (non Australian-owned companies) race a Chevrolet/Pontiac/Hollinger/Ford against a Ford/Hollinger/Ford, the final straw is that a Ford team is designing and building engines for the opposition.
Holden, the biggest Con ever perpetrated on the Australian people.
    Regards Frank.

    Precisely.......although I don't think I'm as passionate about it

I won't be watching, I'd rather watch replays from when they were cars, not go carts, made to look like cars, yawn

While I tend to agree with you, you have forgotten the L34 torana hatch back which was Australian through and through, also while some ford bits are Australian designed most of it is good old USA sourced just like the holden is. But apart from that your quite right

You go Frank ! . But the VE Commodore shape is nothing but Australian . Holden sells that shape to the rest of the world . It may have a USA engine a German transmission and Diff . But the shape and package itself was designed right here is Oz . Which makes it just as much an aussie car as the falcon . USA V8 German transmission and a Euro rear end . It may have been designed here but it looks like a Mondeo on steroids .

Now to the race cars . both same cars with a different shell and badge . Simple ! But if it wasn't for a few sooks ( dick johnson and John Bowe and others ) Holden would still be running with a McPherson Strut and still be running a holden engine . The strut set up was proven to be better around the top of the mountain and poor old dickie wasn't to happy with that .

But if they opened it up again to other manufacturers I'd be watching.

    Me too, what he said.
These days it's just plain boring.
Even getting the results in the news is a pain.

Like it or not Racing was invented to sell cars.

So in an australian series it would make sense to only have "Australain" cars racing.

yep i'll stick to watching the Production / GT Production Classes, Tarmac Rallies, Shannons Nationals Classes etc. etc..

All provide much more enjoyment than the Supercars.
