Sorry if this has already been said - but I've just opened the thread.

My 2¢ worth, the Nobel committee gave the Nobel Peace prize to Barak Obama only because he's not G Dubilya Bush, Dick Cheney or any of the other hawks in the previous US Aministration.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Just out of curiosity, how has the fact that Australia is a "monarchy" directly affected your freedom?

Everything written by his advisors and PR specialists as well as patriotic reporting in the media without question.
Q2 what spin are you referring to?
    As Q1.
Q 3 Name the 14 invasions, where a sovereign nation has invaded the sovereign territory of another nation with out a UN resolution.
So that makes the UN right. In who's eyes? If the US was serious about anything else but controlling the oil and Opium trade and protecting human rights where oppression occurs they would have forces in several African countries and sovereignties and some in South & Central America.
Q 4 name any conflict where over 1000 regular troops were killed in action defending against am mechanized invading regular army ??
What does this have to do with anything? It depends on what troops you are talking about also. There are many many conflicts where over 1000 troops have been killed. The list is actually very exhaustive.
Q 5 name the US show of forces.
Again, where is the relevance? Afganistan, Iraq, Iran, Vietnam, North Korea, Congo, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Grenada and on the list goes.

Q 6 name any UN show of force
The UN basically does as the US requests and hides behind the UN resolutions to persecute any country not in agreeance.
Q 7 name any EU show of force
Nearly everything the US has been involved in.
Q 8 Name any Nato show of force

all the above questions are with in Obamas presidency

I bet you doint even know what i am talking about, you just doint have a clue Is that right, well who actually put Hussein into power, caused the issues and power struggle in Afghanastan, Iraq, Iran? The US.
You are a clown, straight and true. You have not even provided any factual evidence Obama has stopped WW3. That is perhaps one of the most ludicrous statements I have heard recently and if it satisfies you to try an belittle me then go your hardest because it is you that looks silly purporting that Barrack Obama has single handedly stopped WW3.
A lot of the stuff you mentioned infact started and had its roots way before Obama took office.
Yes he may be a good American president, but he is by no means great yet and at this stage has only talked the talk and not walked the walk. He can sprout on about all his intentions but without the support of congress he will flail.
The whole issue was about the peace prize and peoples opinions and quite frankly he did not deserve it.

I'm not sure.......but the question is, is there really such a thing as freedom? as I don't think there is! despite what the Americans believe and have written in there constitution.

Yes in this case also Australia is free because have the freedom of choice
I guess that you have to do a bit of OS "touring" to know what it is freedom or not for us the people that suffered under dictatorship and other political persecution

We live and learn and is heaps easy to learn from the experience of others

As absolute freedom is an unrealistic goal, perhaps I consider myself free if I can understand the reasons for the restrictions placed on me.

I don't really want the freedom to drive on whatever side of the road I want to because I can see that the restriction placed on me to drive on the left has benefits for me and for everyone else.

i might like to be free from the obligation to pay taxes, but I can see the necessity for me and everyone else (except Kerry Packer apparently) to pay their share.

I suppose we all become accustomed to the restrictions we grow up with, but I am sometimes horrified at the impositions placed on residents of other countries, including America.
