But if we talk about that, you run the risk of some people writing "TDi"

Perhaps at this stage, I should draw some people's attention to the emoticon that concludes my original post.

I may have misinterpreted the message that emoticon is intended to convey. I was under the impression that it meant that the comment preceding it is just some sort of cheeky comment not to be taken seriously.

So you didn't catch the heather comment at the end then

They do like the Monaro I believe but judging by that comment at the end they like its cause its rough

they are alluring to the fact that anyone that owns one is a gypo......a gypo in the UK is not a highly regarded member of society. they are a some what "rough" bunch of people

Do the poms in general hold anyone in high regard?

And possibly a more important question ...who cares?

    cheers,

There was a song by a couple of English comedians called Flanders and Swan who had a song on that subject on one of their LPs. (Yes they date from the time when things like that were on vinyl.)

The chorus went something along the lines of:
"The English, the English, the English are best
I wouldn't give tuppence for all the rest"

One of the verses complained about the sportsmanship of other nations who:
    "Cheer when they've won
    And they practice beforehand
    Which spoils all the fun."

It was pretty a pretty clever send-up of the stereotypical snobbery of the English.
