Mudstar Tyres, first impressions, pics.
Just got my new Mudstar's mounted today and thought I would pass on my first impressions of these budget tyres. First, they are really chunky, big, deep lugs, I've included a pic with a 5 cent piece to give you an idea. No side lugs, but good deep tread. I took them for a trip on the bitumen and they made less noise than the wifes BFG A/T's on her jeep, you could feel them below 10kph but they were not noisy at all, even up to 110kph. In the cabin with the windows up it was dead silent, I could comfortably listen to the radio on low volume setting, and with the windows down I only heard wind noise.
Also in the pictures you can see the factory Siping, I think this is a new feature of the the Mudstars as the pictures I have seen of Mudstars showed no Siping from the factory. I am hoping this will improve the wet weather grip of these tyres.
Now the negative, I did alot of research, so I fully expected this, my tyres are 32x11.50x15's but they actually measure exactly 31x10.50x15, Just keep that in mind if you are ordering a set of these, order one size larger.
All up though I am very happy with them so far, for the cost, I paid $810 for four, mounted and balanced.
