We live next door to an idiot of the highest degree. He does lots of weird things including banging the fence when our dog (German Shepherd) is out the back, or when we are out there, he will come out and just make noise. he also peers at us over the fence.
Anyway, back to the point, one day I was out the front (also fenced) and he jumped up at the fence and leaned over at me very threateningly(from the dogs point of view) so she went ballistic (that's my girl!), so he shouted at the top of his voice "get that freaking(not his exact word) away from me, or I'll call the police" now...shouting at a defensive German Shep? wise?
Anyway i calmly said "please feel free to call the police"
Anyway, he obviously did and they did nothing, but he then must have called the council or something (meanwhile I jumped on the web and checked the Vic laws on animal attacks and noticed that "provocation" and "tresspassing on the dogs territory" are two circumstances that can negate a "rushing" incident (which can then have your animal classed as "dangerous" which puts a heap of restrictions on what you can do with your dog)
As it happens he had both trespassed and provoked, but it still took some convincing on my part to stop the animal control officer having my dog classed as dangerous, I have no doubt had I not known the law, and made it clear to the officer that I did, and would fight any attempt at having our dog classified as dangerous, it would have happened.
I even had to write out a statement describing the incident, and take photos of where it happened, and show the officer how he (the neighbour) jumped up on the fence, etc.

    Ramble over!
Just thought I'd share my experience.

    Cheers all,
    Fraser

I wonder why the reports breaks them into 2 different breeds.
I'll start calling my dog an English Staffordshire Terrier.

How do I make him bark with an accent now?

As some of you may be aware my avatar is my mate Reg, he's a Staffy. The most loyal and devoted dog running around. Wouldn't harm a flea. Sleeps with the cats, eats with the cats, shares food with the cats even puts up with the young bloke pinching his food and poking him in the chocolate star fish.
Our family are now and always devoted to the Staffy breed.

Statistical garbage once again causing alarm and concern.

    Cheers

Here's a link to the dangerous dog register http://www.dlg.nsw.gov.au/dlg/dlghom...20register.pdf
It looks to be just a statistical analysis of the reported dog "attacks" which could in themselves consist of nothing more than a dog racing to the gate of a property.
Slow news day taken advantage of by the NSW minister for local govt methinks.
I'm surprised she wasnt too busy picnicing on the Harbour Bridge.

    Regards

    Vicious Guinea Pigs

Thanks for the good wishes fellow AULROians,

My "little one" is actually 42 years old(You see I am an old bloke), but seriously as soon as she was bitten she treated the wound staight away and an hour later her hand became swollen and these vicious red lines went up her arm ( I guess the poison making its way into her system) she went straight to casualty and was given an anti-tetanus shot.

Next day(Saturday just gone) she felt terrible and went back to hspital and was admitted, she could be there for a week.

So, good people, be carefull around all animals.
