I would like to see some good quality named oil as the alternative.

They lost me when they expected me to believe that their product can repair worn bearings.

I used to use Royal Purple 10-40 in my 95 M3. Those who know M3s know that the vanos cam advance mechanism can be quite noisy.

I used Royal Purple and I must say that the Vanos noise reduced from previously. I do not know which oil was used previously but guess it was BMW 10-40 or 5-30 mineral oil, which I think was made by Castrol.

Since then I changed to Shell Helix Ultra 5-40 and subjectively the Vanos noise is quieter again . I mainly did it for convenience as Royal Purple is expensive and has to be ordered on the net as no one around my home stocks it. Shell Helix Ultra is used by Ferrari as initial fill as well as complying with all most recent European standards. AFAIK Royal purple is not tested or approved to European standards only SAE

It seems to me that any high quality synthetic should be adequate.

Another point I seem to recall is that some people dispute the video test as being more relevant to roller bearing tests than engine internal tests. Its hard to think of any engine surfaces where two steel surfaces are separated by an oil film except maybe camshaft to lifters, and timing chain.

In any case it would be a waste to use it in a Rover V8 .

    Check this and the vid.
    Similar machine.
    This stuff is Aussie made.
I am currently trying this stuff in both the TDI defender and V8 101 landrover.
The Pro ma stuff has copper and lead in it and that is the stuff which stops the scuffing.
How this works in real life in real motors I don't know and thats why i am trying it.
Interesting enough the bloke next door who has one of these machines and sell the the stuff lets me try any other lubricant in the machine and every thing I have tried doesnt come close to something treated with Pro Ma and tried every thing including top line chain lubes, motor oils and anti seize greases.

I run royal purple 5w30 in my 650hp xr6 turbo motor, the motor has forged pistons that are quite noisy when cold, the RP oils helped reduce the engine noise substantially. the oil has done 40000k's and the oil is changed every 10k with a filter at 5k, i get an oil analysis done at each change and the oil doesn't show any signs of excess wear each time. The engine doesn't use a drop. The engine was previously run on mobil 1 and engine noise levels and oil consumption where less than impressive.(on 18psi of boost)

The gear box runs RP syncromax and the oil has to cope with 1100nm and again the oil comes up trumps each change as well.

I really like the RP oils and the preformance they offer. But as stated they are a bit beyond anything Landrover produces
