no probs with my ARB lockers 9yrs on
Well, Im still confusing myself with more & more info on lockers so, I decided to ring Jacmac today. No, really it was,nt that bad. After all thats been said I thought I should make up my own mind. I only live a few k,s away & his product usually gets a great rating.
Although Jeff was,nt at all rude to me, he isnt exactly the worlds greatest salesman. After enquiring into diff locks his response was "both lockers fitted $3300 but we dont have any in stock, we,re too busy at the moment doing other things, ring me in a month & we,ll see how we are going".
Even though on the last car with my ARB lockers fitted for 8 years having no probs, I keep hearing about a new design with faulty seals, oil flowing back to the compressor, brocken PLASTIC cages, airlines now too close to the crown wheel ,etc. Having said that, to me its all hearsay & perhap I should show a little loyalty to a brand that was reliable fora long period of time.
Ive given up on a Detroit after a post from Ashcrofts who spoke of a few probs.
So its down to ARB with its percieved probs or Jacmac with their lackluster attitude?????????????
Cheers Dean.

130's rule
Ashcrofts did make some interesting remarks regarding Detroits in fact it prompted me to chase Keith in the US about parts for mine. (thinking the low USD would make them cheap)
Now I dont know how you think but the Yanks tend to abuse things more than the Poms.
Keith assured me that he had only ever seen a Detroit break when an axle broke. He also assured me that running good quality axles i should be OK.
I will run Maxis until I break them and then go 35 Spline if required.
I suspect that TracTech warranty and service suck but I have had no issues with the Australian distributor Locked Drive Systems in fact they have been very helpful.
Your choice I guess
Jack Mack do have lousy attitudes but their product is pretty sound.
I have never used an ARB but am suspicious with what I read.
Well i like the jmac setup and he has been known to repair ARB lockers aswell , At least with jmac lockers if you have any problems you will deal with the man that makes them , Unlike ARB where you are dealing with some pimple faced doff doff salesman![]()
interesting comments, i was looking at ARB as i couldn't be arsed to do the shimming of the rear flange seal but ARB would do it if i bought a locker lol
Crazy hey !!!!
think i might get round to it still!

Nearly 6 years on my ARB's without a single issue. IMO a lot of the issues are probably caused by the installer.
