not happy!! what does is take FFS!!! NOW WITH RESULT!!!

I bought my defender nearly a month ago and when i purchased it, I organised to get some accessories included in the finance. I spoke to Arb and got a quote, gave it to landrover and they included in the finance too easy! you're right I phone ARB back and book in my vehicle, the consultant phones me back about an hour later to say prices have changed and that he had qouted me for steel roofrack and not ali (yes he was going to fit a steel roofrack to an aluminium truck) then he told me the cargo barrier was different and it was going to cost another $400 and the roofrack was another $350. totally irritated I decided to get a quote from another company. arranged to have the vehicle booked in today organised with landrover to get the name on the cheque changed, phoned them last week to make sure it was all ready. they said all ready for monday. dropped the vehicle off this morning at Perth 4X4 and handed them the keys caught a taxi to the missus work costing me $30 then drove home from there. he calls me at 2 oclock and tell me they haven't even started on my car and they don't have any of the parts. FFS!!!!

why is this so hard? (rant over)

do I persist with the same company or get the cheque changed again and go elsewhere if so where. can anyone reccomend someone NOR for drawer system, cargo barrier and roofracks?

Yesss!!! That ties in with another thread on the Forum about importing parts from the UK taking a shorter time than getting them sent from one side of Oz to the other, and the stuffing about that goes on from companies in Oz. It appears business must be good in this country for these companies to stuff about their customers as much as they do. Mate I can only offer sympathies, it must be frustrating.

And companys wonder why they go broke.I used to be on the end of a long supply chain at my last job so know how you feel. It's sitting in a shop so the sooner they get the bits the sooner it's gone so I'd leave it where it is. Pat

If they can't supply as promised and at the price quoted then I'd take the business elsewhere. Too many companies use poor parts sourcing and freight issues as an excuse. If they have problems with a supplier then they should also be reviewing who they do business with.

I suppose it depends on what other local retail options you have. But if you stay with the current after market mob then I would be looking to them for a decent discount off the job in hand or they supply and fit extras gratis to compensate you for them stuffing you around. And I think I'd be pretty firm about it.

The reality is that the best option is probably to just leave it there until the part comes in, pays your money and make a careful decision on where and how you buy next time.

can I just ask whats wrong with fitting a steel rack to an ali truck??? both surfaces are painted so they are not going to fight each other and corrode.....especailly as a lot of racks also come with rubber bits on the clamps

got a steel rack on one of our defenders been there for about 4 years with no problems and had another steel rack on it in the uk for about 3 years previous to that
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

That could mean they are not up to date with paying their account and are on COD with the supplier, then again it could be something else.

doesn't make sense in my opinion to put a steel rack on an ali truck, the rack will rust eventually and leave rust marks on the paintwork, not just from where it is mounted, 10 years time you'll wish you spent another $300 on an ali rack (if you keep the car that long) if you don't you have nothing to worry about
