    This hasn't been forgotten people.

The cogs are slowly turning (slower in some heads than others!)

We'll be looking for more input on templates and so on before we open the forums up.

    Regards

Anyone who thinks they might have something to contribute (with content something along the lines of the template above - see post #19 by waynep ) pleae let us know.

Myself and redback will be moderating these forums and want to get it kicked off, but also want to maintain it as resource rather than a discussion forum, as such. At least thats the idea for now - we'll see how it goes.

    All (polite) suggestions welcomed.

    Cheers
    Vlad

Maybe a template with the basic standard headings needs to be posted. Then we can cut and paste those and fill in as needed.

Take a look at ExploreOz site Treks section for some ideas on what to include as headings.

4WDing, Camping & Caravanning around Australia @ ExplorOz

For example this on for the Wedge Island Beach Run.

Wedge Island Beach Run @ ExplorOz

    Important headings would be ;

    Difficulty ( 1-5)

    Start /finish location

    Distance /Time needed

    Description

    Environment

    Map

    Driving Directions

    Permits

    Trek Feedback

    Things to See & Do

    Related Travel Journals

    Preparation

    Related Pages

    Camp Sites & Accommodation

This would be an awsome resource that I am yet to see on the net. Only tonight I posted questions that would be answered by exactly that.

It's pretty similar to the ExplorOz one above, it is also similar to 4X4Earth too

So this is a template to look at, make some changes, is it good/bad, am I close

I am trying to keep it simple, not everyone is into file downloads and complicated track data and so on when doing family holidays, we also don't want a trip report type thing, so photos will be restricted to one maybe two, just to give people an idea of what it looks like and maybe the scenery of the area.

    So pick away

    DESTINATION
A description of the trip and things to see along the way, whether it's an overnight place on a longer journey or whether it's a weekend getaway, whether it's hard core 4wdriving or a relaxing family holiday

    Directions:
Google maps or whereis directions or you own, you may have a book with the trek notes, give the book/road atlas details.

    GPS Coords
    Lat/Long

    Difficulty:
    Easy/moderate/moderate to hard/hard/extreme

    Length:
Ks from start point or nearest major town or road and how long it will take.

    Features:
What to see when there, amenities, BBQs, clean, flat, camper or van friendly, dog friendly, things for kids to do

    Contact Details:
Address and phone No, in case you need to book, maybe it has a webpage.

    PHOTO OF CAMPING AREA HERE
This is optional, could a scenery photo
    Cheers Baz.
