New Dubli-Anyone heard of it yet?

Just a uick note to see if anyone on here has heard of the new Dubli website that is going in the US and Europe and starting here in March.

Its kind of like a challenger to Ebay but has reverse auctions where everytime you go to check the price of things and all things are new items, they get cheaper by means of you checking them costing you credits or money to check and if you feel its low enough, you buy.

My friend who is in it keeps telling me it will be big and big firms are looking at selling products and vouchers etc on it.
All items are apparently priced at the lowest on the net already and than the price just gets lower.
Sounds truly interesting and am wondering if anyone here has heard or is interested as I am.

Could be just another Pyramid scheme?

Not sure that I get it, but here's the explanation:
    DubLi.com How does it work?

You can only win 5 bids per month, btw.

Apparently you can win as much or little as you like.

Its good for retail shops and buyers I guess as everytime you look it will cost you 80cents or something, the price will drop 25 cent and the seller will get a cut also from the person viewing.

Its more a business than just a shop.
I am still getting my head around it but from what my mate tells me, they had 800 members in Oz 3 weeks ago and now have 20000 already and growing.
They will launch it here as soon as they have enough members to sustain it.

    It will be interesting.
It is a Pyramid scheme as far as I can tell in the way that the more people you sign up and show under you you get a cut everytime they check a price by someone you signed up.

    Time will tell.

So.... sellers are making money from people just looking at their wares, not just the final selling price...... Is that it?

Not sure how keen people will be on paying just to look at the current price.

Interesting concept. Got a whiff of "gambling" about it I reckon, so it'll probably do really well in Australia!

Too bad if you only get 20 bids on your house at $5

    This is another one -
BidPax.com - Your Home for Entertainment Shopping - Bid, Win and Save! :: BidPax

And I think I've seen another, you buy a certain number of bids at a dollar or so each and each bid raises the final price of the item by so many cents. So you buy the bids to win the right to buy the item at the final price.

If you add up the total number of bids say a cent increment at a time multiplied by the price to buy each bid and you come out with an astounding final profit for those that are selling the item. I think one I looked at was a lcd tv that sold for seven dollars, so profit for the site was seven thousand less the cost of overheads. Not a bad profit on a two thousand dollar tv.

    Reckon it's a scam?

Maybe not, but there's something about it that just doesn't feel right.
