St John (not plural!) only runs the Ambulance Service in WA and NT. All other states have their own state run services. No, it doesn't necisarily work any better.

I can sadly very easily see how it would happen.......not good, but stuff like this does happen occasionally.
No I haven't worked in a hospital, but I do have family and friends who have - mainly nurses...

I can understand that with a short-staffed and over-stretched hospital it could happen easily. It's disgusting that it happened, but I don't think you can blame the nurses - it's the bigger issue that is disturbing.

Having had my Mum in there last Feb, I can well believe it.
Having said that though, some of the service was excellent, but a lot left much to be desired, especially for the prices paid.
    Food?
I thought hospital food was better than airline catering - wrong!
    cheers

My MIL was in there a couple of months ago, and acquired an infection that nearly killed her. The up-shot was that they called in the experts from the public hospital next door as they had no ability to resolve the issue themselves.

So 25k later she's alive, but thanks only to the 'free' service provided next door.

So the moral of this storey is, when sick, go to the public hospital (ie the Royal) first!!

PS I tried to stop them saving her

Your right Inter, I was told, that even if you got private health insurance you ALWAYS go to the public hospital first. Then if they transfer you to the Private it doesnt cost you $100 to enter the door if you went to Private from the start

At any rate, the Private hospital doesnt have the same facilities, so in a lot of cases Private patients are sent to the public hospital!
