Tank, do you know what fuel the turbines on Toowoomba run. Most Avtur is basically power Kerosene slightly refined.

Sorry don't know the tech name for the fuel, I would imagine it would be the same fuel that the aircraft aboard use, definitely not nuclear fuel though, Regards frank.

the jets would be running avtur or JP -5 -8 all of which is basically very high grade diesoline. Turbine warships (and diesel ones) are fitted with multi grades of fuel.

to give you an idea.

1 US nuke aircaft carrier (and the nimitz is not the smallest) fields more aircraft than the RAAF.And generally when on patrol launches more craft in a day that we do in a week.

RAAF Amberly burnt 30 million L of Avtur this year.

I suspect they might have enough tur onboard to fill up a piddly little frigate.

Being nuclear Nimitz also desalinates it's own water, could it be possible that they are transferring water or would Toowoomba make her own?

all aust ships that are sea going have desalinisation plants and are at least 150% sufficient

IE if your total crew consumption including washing cooking and drinking is 100l a day then the plant makes 150.

Residual above is of interest as these fuels are basicly what is left over when the crude oil has been refined to produce whatever products the particular grade of crude can make. The ship is then a mobile incinerator to dispose of this waste.
