    Question Broome - MMmmm - Should I?

Hello gurus and wise persons of aulro,

    I need some guidance.

Just checking out a job in Broome. Would be right up my alley and I'd have a bloody good chance at getting it, were I to apply.

Never lived anywhere but Sydney or Melbourne.

I could do with a change.

    Should I apply?

    (Wife and 2 x teenagers)

P.S. Dont mention this to Mrs Sleepy - she doesn't know I'm thinking about this - so it's just between you, me and the rest of the internet.

It seems so far from anywhere though.

(Which I guess is a pro for me but perhaps not for Mrs and kids)

    What Andy said...

I was offered a job there 'over the phone' late last year and knocked it back - I've regretted it ever since, but the issue I had was I needed to find my own accommodation and the rent was going to cost me most of what I would have been earning (as I'm not real 'speshkle' ).

So depending on what the $ and accommodation package is for the job...get that application off!
    Cheers

Broome's great, but you are going to have to like heat and humidity to live in the top end all year round and the buildup (Sept-Nov) is the worst time of the year.

A colleague went there 6 months ago. Last I spoke to her she said she is never coming back - she likes the lifestyle too much.

Rent is $$$, but apart from that it is an amazing, idylic lifestyle. Compared to Syd/Melb it will be tiny, but if you like fishing or touring the kimberleys then...

Surely SWMBO and the teens can be sold on the world class resorts?

There is a VERY good brewery there:

Thanks guys, I need this encouragement.

Mentioned it to the missus last night...

"How'd ya like to go an live in Broome?", I said.
"In an instant" she said - thinking I was full of the usual.

Seems the stickin' point now is Miss Sleepy who has just finished VCE (HSC for you non-mexicans) and lookin to go to uni.

    Ideas??

My res friends enjoyed uni life all the way through whereas i only enjoyed the first few years, and none of them moved back home whereas im still stuck here lol
