Bought a ticket to the policemans ball

Bloted my record today, almost 15 years with a clean licence.
    I thought I was in a 70kph zone,but it was 60kph.
    Booked for 72kph in a 60zone
    2 demerits and $150
I have no issue at all with the cops, they were doing their job,and they were nice blokes too.
My beef is with Main Roads WA and the poor road signage that just blends in with the visual pollution of all the roadside advertising.
It was Albany Hwy Kenwick for you WA blokes. The limit varies between 60 and 70 and seems to change for no reason.

In Victoria you can contest it.

Just write in and say yep, sorry, I am a very naughty boy and you just might get off.

    Worth the shot.

    Hey Andrew ,
Did the same thing last till we were in Perth driving thru wattleup heading to Rockingham. the limit is I think 70 then you come round the corner and down the hill and its 60, Motorbike cop waiting about 20 mtrs past sign with the gun 70 in 60 zone..Only difference, he was the reason cops get a bad name, just a rude bastard..

Oh well, lets hope it is another 15 odd years till the next ..

    Cheers Ean

    that is bad luck

too many speed change signages along the roads IMHO

and in NSW they have virtually admitted that there is a built-in leeway in penalty limits, eg you don't get booked in 60 unless you're doing at least 65

I didnt even try to slow down,I could see them sat there in their "Candy Car" Silver XR6 Turbo with all the bright orange Highway Patrol livery and lighting.
I honestly believed it was a 70 zone.

They must have a big ball this year as the x-mas blitz started early over here.
One bloke works a section 10KM's long and has some one pulled up every time I pass him, usualy every 45mins or so.
    So 5 cars an hour for 6 hours @$150 = $4500

    Our taxes at work

Well these days between staring at your speedo frantically scanning everywhere for speed signs lest you become a "bloody idiot" there is hardly any time left for actually driving the car... let alone doing the things you should actually be doing..

Ah the dreaded area in Kenwick. I live about 5 mins from there and it is very badly sign posted. My sister got done there by Constable Kodak not so long ago on that stretch. Luckily, I havent been done yet.

In fact the only time I have ever been pulled over was in our comp Rangie.
Stopped me on Albany Hwy because the numberplate was missing. Just killed the engine as soon as their lights turned on, and coasted onto a side street (It had a loud exhaust and a dummy muffler). Knew I was in the green as soon as they said "Wow. What a beast!"

2 points isn't too bad though, I've seen people get caught doing a lot more through that area.

I bought the latest maps for my Garmin and when I was in MEL recently I was surprised at how accurate the speed limit information was on it. Within a few metres of a change it had it reflected and I didn't see anywhere other than roadworks were it was wrong. I think if you are going to rely on it you'd need to get the update frequently map option.
