    Saw a red SVX today

Yes it was definitely red and it reminded me of something I'd forgotten.

Subaru release the SVX model back in the early 90's.

... and that's why this one was red. It wasn't a Defender

I quite like the Subaru SVX.

Had one come through the Dealer in Alice once. The owner had a couple, the one he was driving had been converted to manual using a WRX gearbox. Looked like a good thing.

Don't think there was many sold or even brought in to Australia.

I remember seeing one in Albury or Hobart (can't recall which) after they were released.

Australian spec Vortex was 4 cylinder only, although turbo was available.

As far as I know, 6 cylinder Vortex was Japanese home market only.

I have seen a 6 cylinder Vortex engine wedged into a Brumby. The radiator was in the tray!

I'll stand corrected, I read the article when the model was released, it could quite possibly have said the 6 pot was not available here.
