the most accurate description i've ever heard of Rockhampton would be from a visiting US soldier during WWII....
"The Fitzroy river is the arsehole of the world, and Rockhampton is 40 miles up it"
Lived there for 3 years. My God can it get hot.Don't worry there are plenty of watering holes.Don't miss seeing Yeppoon and Emu Park and all places in between.
Cheers,
John ( disco 44 )
amazing they even have the internet up here now
i spent my first 16 years up here....well gracemere, applied for jobs all over australia to get out as soon as i could, thank god a got a job sooner rather than later
During WW2 over 1 million yanks passed through Central Queensland. They built a memorial ..St Christophers Chapel..on the Emu Park road..worth seeing.
I could understand that not all were happy..hence the stupid comment by one of them.
