Any one know what these ants are?

Sorry for the poor pics. See how there's mega ants with the big heads. They seem to call these guys in when there's some serious food around. The food is peanut butter mixed with borax, I'm hoping this will kill them, they've been causing us a lot of trouble lately, can't even leave a crumb around.

So long as they are not these buggers

Fire ant identification (Queensland Primary Industries and Fisheries)

We had a guy come into our office and report that he thought there was a fire ant nest in the Royal National Park, we passed on the location and NPWS and NSWDPI were there in a matter of hours to check.

    Could they be Argentinian ants.

I had them at the bar and they emerged from a depth of 3-4 metres, they seem to love food and sweet things.

They just look like what we used to call sugar ants. They're harmless but the big ones can bite - the little ones are fine. They build nests in the dirt that have extracted dirt around the holes.

They taste a little like lime ... great when mixed with a Cambodian fermented fish paste called prahok, served as a dip for Khmer-style grilled chicken (free range, of course)

Well day 2 and there is a lot less of the ants around the food. I'm hoping this is a sign that the colony is starting to have a few troubles. These ants don't like sugar just protein hence the peanut butter. They love anything that's meat and quickly find any egg that my 18 month old has thrown around the place.
