That's what they are predicting
Water and the Land: Forecast Rainfall
Predictions for next few days (would make a lot of people happy I would think)
The BoM must be fairly confident
Sydney radar says it will be raining here very soonNote: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].
The remains of Tropical Cyclone Lawrence has developed into a deep low over
central Australia and this extends a trough across New South Wales to the South
Coast. The trough will remain over New South Wales until at least Monday,
bringing rain and isolated thunderstorms to most of the state with heavy falls
and some flooding likely in northwestern and central parts.
Local flooding is possible over a wide area and is covered by a Severe Weather
Warning.
At this stage there is a strong chance of main river flooding developing over
Saturday to Monday (26 to 28 December) in the following:
1. Castlereagh River - moderate to major flooding
2. Bell River catchment including Molong, Orange and Wellington - possible
moderate to major flooding developing during Saturday/early Sunday.
3. Macquarie River to Bathurst - possible moderate flooding Saturday/Sunday
4. Bogan River - moderate to major flooding
5. Lower Namoi River downstream of Narrabri - moderate to major flooding
6. Lower Macquarie River downstream of Dubbo and including the Talbragar
River - moderate to major flooding
7. Barwon / Darling River between Walgett and Bourke - local flooding
leading to rapid river rises within 6 to 9 hours of heavy rain.
Initially these may exceed minor flood level at some locations ahead of
further rises due to inflows from other rivers.
8. Paroo and Warrego Rivers - possible moderate flooding developing from
some heavy falls along the NSW/Qld border.
The location and extent of this expected flooding is subject to change and will
be reviewed Saturday morning..

As of 8:00am this morning Goulburn had had about 49 mm of rain in one 24 hour period. This is an average months rainfall for there and about as much as we have had in the last two plus months combined. This is good news as we would have had to buy water in another two weeks as the tanks ran out, now we might be set for the next couple of months.
This is the most rain we have had there in one day in the year we have lived there
Can't wait to get home from Orange where we are at for Christmas to see what muddy paddocks actually look like. I big rain in Goulburn is about 10 mm in a day from what I've seen this year and that has only happened maybe twice in the last twelve months.
The rain here at Orange has been about 42 mm and is still bucketing down. They will be happy here with that as they were meant to go to level 6 water restrictions in the new year. Level 6 is really bad.
I'll be happy if it keeps coming down for a day or two more.
cheers,
Terry
South East Queensland up to 40 mil. Also the catchments of Somerset and Winvenhoe Dams (SE water supply Dams ) the same...great Christmas present.

Has there been any rain in Sydney? Specifically Eastern Suburbs and Lower North Shore.
Has anyone heard from JDNSW? There is a flood watch for the Talbragar River.

Hi all,
Here in Alice we only got about three drops...............at one stage they were predicting 50-100mm.
I just washed me Disco so it shouldn't be long before rain clouds start to gather
Regards to all Jim.
Just got back home from the South Coast (Callala Beach) and it was raining all night and was still raining when we left this morning -don't know how much, but it was constant.
Rain eased off a bit north of Kiama. We have apparently had constant drizzle here at Horsley Park, but our creek is still dry so we're hoping for heavier falls.
JD is at Yass, I believe. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Talbragar though, as we have a few hundred acres nearby JD's and also have to cross that river to access it.
Well so far nothing more has fallen here. Roads are nice and dry but still fairly overcast.
Just looked at the NSW observations and basically no substantial rain today anywhere.
So much for their forecasts
