I dont know, really starting to clock the K's up on the defender now we moved..we are nearly at 60 and I'm doing a 1000 k's every 8/9 days.

20k is normally used as a yardstick.
More than likely a Reps vehicle.
With those Ks wouldnt be city either,too hard to rack them up at 60kph!!!

G'day Ean. Friend bought a Territory that had done close to 200k in 18 months - Bris to site by a mining company so yours may be legit k's.

Like all vehicles the service record would help.

If its a daily driver i would say 25k/year is closer to average.

I could never work out how the RACQ & other motoring type people would often quote 15k a year as average k's.
As daily driver,our private car often did 30 to 35k a year.

At the moment our private car is seldom used as we have company cars
And the kids have their own cars.
The D2 actually did less k's in 08 than it did on our 7k holiday trip mid 09.

We put about 50,000 on our D3 annually, when I was a tech based in Orange servicing Western NSW I put 256000 KM on a Maverick in 18 months so that number of KM is certainly achievable.

my new work ute was delivered in late july and has just clicked over 25,000kms. Another bloke at work who got his ute a week later has just clicked over 45,000kms. At this rate at the end of the 5 year lease his car will have close to 500,000kms.

Scarry- You just answered your own question!!!

An average is exactly that, average and with a bit of research, there are lots of cars driven only on occasions, just like yours.

The price in red book is sadly low but we only have our srlfes to blame because we offer cash and ask if we can write down a lower value to save on stamp duty.
Not legal of course but helpful with cashflow, until it comes to selling same car and the resale value will be low for you as a reseller.

That car would have seen a lot of km's, I once noticed a subaru outback with 300k km's, it belonged to a cattle auctioneer who just travelled a lot.
Car needed new front shocks and otherwise fine, original brake pads apparently.
