    Kev

It becomes a very easy movement after a surprisingly short period of time.

I was wearing them from the age of 16 up to 2 years ago (total of 22 years) I had to stop wearing them as I have blood vessels growing up to the corneas to supply oxygen as a resulot of wearing the lenses (I should have taken more breaks from the lenses instead of wearing them 12 hours a day, 7 days a week!)

So, persevere with the in and out of the lenses and Please listen to your optometrists advice in how long to wear them for.....they really do know best

    Cheers

G'day mate, sorry to hear of your problem. I spent almost 20 years in the optical business with several of those years spent with a major contact lens company.
Until you get used to them they can be a bit tricky, I'm guessing you have trouble suppressing your 'blink reflex' right? And then the more you try, the more you blink and then you have tears going everywhere.
Best trick at first is to get the lens sitting on your finger, tilt your head back a bit then LOOK UP (with your eyes). This means that you'll be placing the lens more on the white part (sclera) which has very few nerve endings. You are less likely to blink this way. Gently press the lens on there then remove your finger and blink.....SLOWLY. Once you've done this you can gently massage the lens through your eyelid to get it located properly.
After you get used to it you'll find it all ridiculously easy and your vision will be better than it's ever been as you won't get the image distortion (bending) that you get when you look through the outer parts of your glasses.
    Hope this helps

Oh... to get them out, do the same thing....LOOK UP then gently pinch the lens to make it release from the tear film

They take a bit of getting used to especially if you are only wearing them on weekends. I wore them for a while and then decided it was not worth the hassle working in mining industry and out bush a fair bit.

I have been wearing mine for about 15 years (I do take them out now and then!).

I find it very easy to put them in and take them out, to the stage where removal doesn't need a mirror. You definately get better at it. My other half only got hers recently and I am a lot quicker than she is.

I wear mine in dusty conditions, but I do keep a bottle of lens solution handy just in case.

It took me years to get the hang of them. I started off using a makeup mirror because I struggled to get my eyelids open enough, despite using my spare hand to hold them open. I've now been using them about 15 years and 99% of the time use my bathroom mirror because I find that if I don't, I miss my eye lol. I like to get them in first go, otherwise they get muck on them which can irritate your eyes.

As per the tips above, you should aim to get the lens onto the white of your eye. My Optom explained to me that if you do inadvertently scratch it, it heals quicker than the cornea.

If you do find you're blinking heaps, just use your spare hand to keep your eyelids open. And develop a routine, start with the same eye each time, say right eye if you're right handed. Same with taking them out.
