Hi, Can anyone recomend an honest and reliable landrover mechanic who works in the western area of Melb. I need pistons, rings, maybe a rebore, etc. I have spent a lot of money on this motor, it has been pulled down twice and no one suggested I may need new rings even though one guy said he could see his reflection in the bore. I had the head done and the new compression stuffed the pistons. I can transport the truck to the location. Thanks Guys. ps, Its a 96 disco 2.4 tdi.
I do know of 1 lol. but at 90 bux an hour (he must have a phd) I may be better off buying a new motor.
I agree $90p/h is good, however I do pay $85p/h to my Landrover Mechanic.
Thats in QLD though.
I think it is more about having an understanding of what is involved in the work before you have it done and getting quotes for work.
Also make sure your invoice is itemised right down so you can see exactly where money has gone on parts and labour etc.
This is how mine are done and whenerver I have had an issue with an item they have been more than happy to discuss and rectify where necessary.
i have tried most of the mech's on my side of town and i stick with range rov now they charge $110 per hr but my disco has never ran so good!
I recently used Romsey Land Rover Service and they seemed OK. Place was full of Land Rovers
Helpful, Price as quoted and they did a good job! Their no is
03 5429 5021.
Good Luck Andrew
