Long story short he was missin for several Hrs. The only way i could snatch him was via the tow ball and arse drag him the 350-400mts up the beach to where it was hard enough for him to get going again.
My butt hole was like a rabbits nose during the whole process, worrying about the tow ball. It didn't snap off but it could have.. The funny thing about this successful reco was that during the dragging process the carbon fibre air dams, stone guards etc. were ripped off. And still my mate was ever so thankfull.

I don't mean to steal the thread but it was aver funny episode of life.

I can relate to that Hence this thread I love the red necks when they stuff up. Especialy when carnage is involved

Dont worry about the Tow ball thing as you obviosly like me had to make do with what you had at the time.
You had no by standers right

The safe way,assuming it has the usual tojo tow hitch is.Run the strap over the bar,back under then loop over the tow hitch.

Had a situation out in the sticks while working a couple of weeks ago where we had to 'assist' a 2WD Rodeo trayback up a wet grassy slope using a strap and a new 4WD Hilux with a factory towbar.

Was not a snatch and I did the right thing and pulled the drawbar out of the Lux and used the strap on the retaining pin.

Question for those with more experience doing this at times...........what is wrong with leaving the towbar in and making a loop, even with two turns, over the tongue with the strap? Seemed to me that the looped strap would grip the tongue, then the base of the ball and nut underneath would just stop it sliding off.
