    tyres

    hi,
im new to the forum. have a 2001 d2 td5. I was wondering if any body has had problems with fitting 275/75/16 to there disco if so what were they, i am going to be putting either a 2" or 3" lift on it, depends on what is easiest to come by (prob the 2"), any help about the tyres or the susspension would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

275/75 is a very odd size. With a 2" lift you can fit up to 285/75 or 33" approx, with minimal rubbing, but the front bar needs to be trimmed as well as the plastic trims on the sills. A very common size is 265/75 on a d2, which is what I run, and at this stage I don't see a reason to go any bigger.

I am going through tyre purchase myself at the moment and have been to most major retail tyre outlets. Some now do not or will not fit the tyres you want to a 7" rim as they can have legal repercussions in event of accidents etc and will only supply and fit to manufacturers recommendations as per tyre placade fitted to vehicle. The other aspect is a 10-15% speedometer error which is not acceptable to either police or insurance companies. I'm not trying to put you off your purchase at all but just enlightening you of my responses from retail tyre outlets in the last week. I too am looking to fit an "unusual" size tyre......but right now Bob Jane are offering 265/75 x 16 D694 Bridegestones for $225, thats an awesome price foe a really good tyre and its nearly the size youre after.
