Booster seats dont need an achor point unless you are using a H harness.
Hi All
I'm not a parent but I've read the threads on baby seats in Defenders and the need for anchor points. Now my friends kids are starting to grow up, the older ones are approaching the right age for a booster seat.
Do booster seats require the same official anchor points that baby seats do? I'd probably buy one to make life easier for all concerned in my social set (the kids all love a Defender and want to ride in it) if there was a safe and legal way to do it without going the engineered anchor point route.

I took one of my mates and his 2 kids camping in our Defender, the booster seats he used didn't require any special anchor points.
While on the subject of anchor points, for those interested - I've now got a little rugrat of my own and have been looking at getting a CRAB bar. Not alot of places in Brissie to choose from - Autoextra's at Herston ($575) and Vanquip at Mansfield ($850) are a couple mentioned in other threads on the board. Ended up ringing RACQ and they gave me some numbers of authorised fitters, and I've found a mob at Slacks Creek called Mosleys that think they can do it for $260, but want to look at the car first. So I'm taking it out Saturday for them to have a look. If I can get it for $260 I'll be VERY happy.

It depends on the type of booster seat.
The foam ones don't.
Some blow moulded plastic ones do, and as above, if you use a harness you do.
One of the advantages of the ones that do need an anchor point is that they tend to have anti-submarine straps to stop the kids from shooting out under the seat belt and bouncing about the cabin.
I had some child anchor points installed in my 08 defender last october. I now have one anchor at the back of each seat. It cost about $380 with compliance plate as well. Very good job. looks like factory fit.
