    G'day Folks

East Timor, possibly ex -Bruni from about 1998, when the Lightweights came in there was also 101's series and Bedfords,if they are those, they were originally landed in Darwin in a dirty condition, there was quite a saga about these vehicles, but I know that a quantity of the Landrovers were in a car yard in Dili in 2000/2001

    cheers

There could be a few (hopefully minor) problems with getting them on the road here. That engine was never sold in Australia, and there may be a question as to whether it meets the relevant ADRs - and proving it!. Same applies to the rest of the vehicle, but it should be fairly easy to find out what if any changes were made for the similar ones in Australia. These would be likely to include such things as seat belts, but there may be other strange items.

Just had a quick read of this, and heres my views, i have priced up bringing in some Land Rovers from the Uk, as long as they are pre 89, then its not too much of a problem, they will have to meet the customs regs, and would require a compliance plate, and state rego. If all of your land rovers are of the same kind, then you could have a limited compliance cert done that would cover all of them, then sell them on.

As for your shipping costs, the uk ones would be 1500 pounds shipping then around 1500 Oz here, plus the cost of the car, is it worth it, i think it depends on what you are wanting to bring in, we are currently looking at some older S2/3 fire engines, but these will be for private use, and not for resale.

The ones we were looking at bringing in for resale were S2/3 LWB blood wagons, for possible camper conversions, for a client in Brisbane, with the ADF releasing some Land Rovers soon, the market my become alittle too flooded.

Juddy, I get the feeling the ADF won't want to flood the market either and will release their Defenders in small tranches. I reckon they'll be snapped up pretty quick too.(He says, putting another $2 into his money box)

Or as I had mentioned to me yesterday, perhaps the ADF won't sell them at all, instead giving them away as part of an aid package to some other country...
