When I was 17 ( 43 years ago) and invincible, I was overtaking a truck at Ironpot Creek on the Toowoomba road, when he suddenly started overtaking a mini which I had not seen move out of a petrol station.
He bunted my A90 into the bridge railing, which speared through the windscreen , between me and my passenger, through the back seat and out through the boot.
Some slivers of wood went through my left shoulder which has not been much good since. I was very glad that I had asked the passenger to get off me and sit in her seat a few minutes before.
I really didn't think of the "what ifs " much, but a lucky outcome.

consider your passengers when driving through long grass
reminds me of the above post.
No I am actually 7 because a hospital aneasthetist filled my lungs with my stomach contents during a simple reconnection of my leg quads to my kneecap. So, you are 43 years old now, forget the previous 17
Woke up 6 days later in intensive care, one of the lucky 25%, after the docs called my wife and family in to say goodbye.
Hey no wonder I never win lotto.

Thanks for your replies and stories... you really dont think about these things when driving, just a "day out" enjoying the country side. A good reminder to all about these hidden dangers.

Just another note on things that can get ya.
The first XW? GTHOs that came out had a possibly fatal flaw or maybe that should be floor.
If you "gained air" on a country road, the driveshaft was a little short and would fall out of the gearbox. I heard a guy lost a leg as it speared up through the floor. Ford immediately did a recall and driveshaft retaining loops were fitted. I never heard if the bloke sued and how much he got.
