    Tom Tom

Well after 3 years of ownership it's time to throw away and give up altogether with Tom Tom.
I'm not happy with the service and the fact that I have to spend $100 each year just to update the maps, tom tom won't even give you the choice of 6mth update or any other choice for that matter.

So anyway has anyone ever heard of a mob called Navig8R and if you own one or not is this the way to go?
I owned an expensive Magellan XL that fried a powerboard out of warranty and had to be told that you cannot replace the board (owned it 14mths)so thats a no go with them either.
Was thinking of Garmin but don't want to get burnt again by some clever marketing ploy.

In the CHOICE tests of portable consumer GPS Tom Tom and Garmin always rate the best.

I have both, purchasing the Garmin after my wife decided the Tom Tom was technology she can use. I selected the Garmin as a replacement because it had a lifetime map update.

The Garmin and Tom Tom use the same base maps, although I think the Tom Tom uses them slightly better.

I'd recommend either, but if anyone asks will suggest getting a Garmin with lifetime maps should one be available.
