    Android table with GPS

I'm thinking of getting a Flytouch 4 and then using it with Androzic or Oziexplorer. I like the large screen (10.2"), the price (About $300), and the fact it can be used as more than just a gps.

Has anyone had any experience with using one of these, or any other Chinese Android tablets with buit-in GPS? Or anyone using/found a better cheap alternative?

Any comments, good, bad or ugly welcome.

Thinking along the same lines, still very green to it all though.

All I can add is I think it better to loose, crack, crush, or drown something cheaper than the Ipad.

Have been using a Flytouch 3 for about 6 months now with oziexplorer for Android. It does a pretty good job. you need to use the external antenna but it still loses its way in areas with a heavy tree canopy. In open country its fine. Mine cost about $220 from China, it also serves as an internet access point with my Telstra wireless modem. All in all 3 1/2 out of 5

    Cheers

I have a flytouch3 too, if you google it I doun't think there s much/any difference between the 3/4. Anyhow I would rate it as average. Does what its supposed to. Paid around the $200 mark.
The screen is its biggest drawback, being resistive its a bit below par. If you can afford the capacative instead really worth it.
Speed is good for what it is.
Actually if it had a capacative screen it would be 7 out of 10
    overall 4.5 out of 10

one thing to note is that a lot of place sell them as 3G.
    They are NOT.
They will however accept an external 3G modem or pair with your 3G smart phone of what ever type.

The main issue I had when experimenting with a 7" Galaxy Tab, was it didn't get enough power out of a 12V connection when the GPS was running. I didn't want to use my inverter, so moved it on.

Also, mounting was a bit of an issue in the Defender. I think the only real feasible option are the Ram mounts, but they're not cheap.

I've now acquired an old Optus Mytab, but couldn't be bothered with it.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Was looking at the built-in 3G (Accepts a sim card straight into the tablet) with a capacitive screen.

The RAM mount would cost more than the tablet

Anybody using Androzic (FREE), how does it compare to Ozi ($25 USD)?

I also use use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" (Capacitive touch) and I have the car kit ($30 ebay) that is the Samsung original car kit not aftermarket. It works extremely well. I then use Androzic along with my hema maps and I've got basically Oziexplorer running very good. Perhaps it was your power source? Mine never misses a beat with either Google Mapping, Navigon, or Androzic

Once you download Androzic how do you get the 4wd topo maps onto the tablet and running in Androzic? Cheers
