Down load street maps for Oziexplorer

A great bit of software developed by Jackaroo from the www.gpsaustralia.net site that enables you to search for street maps by locality and down load to Ozi:

I don't have a PDA but I can download to the PC and presumably that can be downloaded to a PDA:

Just make sure your maps are directed to the appropriate directory and download.

And viewed in Oziex from the map folder:

HeHe, only a great program could see you in a position where you have too much (of anything)!!

You don't use OMG on a PDA, and the images aren't useable on a PDA, as they will be in an unsupported format!!

OMG works on the PC, and you can use IMG2Ozf to convert the map images, you got with OMG, into ozf format!!

Be sure to have the latest version.....the earliest version created the problem where it named any maps with multiple fullstops.....which I found out don't work well as filenames on a PDA!!

For anyone that's having trouble(finding a map) with the map names OMG creates, the name of the map is the central co-ordinates in Lat/Lon.

Also these maps are perfect for creating a large map image, of about 200megs or more, and not having to search multiple maps for a simple tracklog!!

ps. 1 hint for best use of these maps.....
I find that with OMG best map downloading feature is for finding a map of a town/city/locality!!
(going up to Cairns in June....downloaded all the Level6 maps I found important.......best use!!)

There is usually no point in using OMG for state maps at Level4 as these are simply NATMAP series maps.....which you can download for free from Geoscience anyhow!!

I usually download maps of smaller towns now... (but I do have my 200Meg Melb map!!)........I accumulate them as I need them!

Keep in mind that Img2Ozf, and maybe more importantly MapMerge can be you two best companions with OMG!!!
